Andrew Biggs - Musical Director & Accompanist
Born in Edgbaston, Andrew began piano tuition at the age of five, finally studying piano as his principal instrument with Fleur Elliot of the Welsh National College of Music, completing an honours degree specialising in accompaniment. He gave his first public performance in London at the age of seven and won the Midlands Prize for obtaining the highest mark at examination on five out of eight occasions. He was appointed to his first position as a church organist at the age of thirteen and is currently one of a team of organists at Central Church in Dudley.
Andrew’s main interest lies in the art of accompaniment. In addition to his work with Viva Musica, he is Musical Director to Kingswinford Choral Society. Previously a teacher by profession, Andrew worked as Director of Music at Eversfield Preparatory School in Solihull and Head of Music at Summerhill School.
