Since its formation in1989, Viva Musica has established itself as one of the leading choirs in the West Midlands.  With over 70 mixed voices it has earned an enviable reputation for performing a wide range of classical, religious, modern and popular choral music in a variety of venues across the Midlands and beyond.

Based in Dudley, the membership of the choir includes many singers who had already established themselves in the surrounding rich musical heritage of the area in church choirs, light opera, Gilbert and Sullivan and other musical companies.  Their common interests are to enjoy the challenge of adding new works to their extensive repertoire, to raise money for local charities, but above all to enjoy themselves through the medium of song.

Viva Musica presents two major concerts during the year in spring and autumn, usually at  Dudley Concert Hall . Concerts are performed throughout the year at other venues including a traditional Christmas carol concert in a local church. The Choir is regularly invited to sing at special events and performs joint concerts with other choirs in the region.

The Choir is always looking for new challenges, it has performed in both Symphony Hall and Town Hall Birmingham and  Worcester Cathedral together with choirs visiting from South Africa and Australia. It has also performed at various venues in mainland Europe .

An important part of their obligation to the local community is fund raising. Over the years they have made substantial donations to local charities including £1500 to the New Cross hospital Deanesley Centre, £2000 to Midlands Air Ambulance and £2000 to Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge.

Viva Musica arranges social activities during the course of the year and many members have become close friends. They are always happy to welcome new members to join through a small audition.  Anyone interested should join us for our open evening in January (watch this site for the date) or contact us using the details on this web site.
