June 2023 - Rosemary's Retirement Meal
A lovely evening was had on the 30th June to celebrate Rosemary’s retirement. It included an impromptu rendition of ‘Thank You for the Music’ by members of the choir. Again, we thank Rosemary for all the successful years she has been our musical director.
There was also a presentation of long service awards to a number of our members whom we are grateful for their loyalty

May 2023 - Rosemary's Retirement
Sadly our Musical Director, Rosemary Phillips will be retiring from the role. Rosemary has been director of the choir since its inception, 34 years ago. Her work with the choir over the many years has been exemplary. It was a big decision for Rosemary but the choir are grateful for her years of dedication and hard work. We will miss her very much and look forward to a new chapter when our accompaniment Andrew Biggs takes on the dual role of Musical Director and Accompanist.

Autumn / Winter 2022/23
Viva Musica Choir returned to rehearsals on Tuesday 6th September 2022 after the Summer break. The two concerts held in the Spring were a great success. The Choir enjoyed performing at the Hagley Music Festival and at St Peter’s Church in Kinver, where the Queen’s Jubilee was celebrated.
During the Summer break, members enjoyed a walk near the village of Blakedown, followed by a picnic in the garden of Wendy and David, who had kindly organised the walk. There were two other picnics held at Jo and Trevor’s house and beautiful garden. Apples were picked, washed, cut up and mashed ready for the Viva Special Cider! More walks and social events are planned during the Autumn and Winter months.
Also during the Summer break Lorraine Newman , a member of the Alto section, took part in the Commonwealth Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Lorraine was one of the Bull Chain Ladies who brought the iconic bull into the stadium. Lorraine applied following a link to audition for the Games on the Choir’s What’s App group. Lorraine is so grateful that through Viva Musica Choir she had the opportunity and courage to be a part of this incredible event.
The Choir is now preparing for their next concerts. On Saturday 15th October the choir will perform favourite pieces at Holy Trinity Church in Wordsley. As part of the concert, songs and readings will be performed to celebrate and reflect on the life of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Following this concert Viva Musica will be getting ready for the Christmas Concert to be held at St James’ Church in Wollaston on Saturday 10th December. This is always a popular concert with traditional and popular Christmas music and carols.
New Members Join Us - The choir always warmly welcomes new members. The choir has a large repertoire of music and enjoys performing regularly throughout the year. The choir rehearses at Ham Dingle Primary School on Tuesday evenings during school term time. Please come along at 7.15pm or call 0121 550 5581 for more information.
