Introduction

Founded in 1989, Viva Musica is a mixed choir based in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley. The choir performs two or more major concerts each year and recent concerts have included a performance of Handel's Messiah, Opera For You, Last Night of the Proms and Essentially Viva, a 10th birthday concert with guests Hermanus Pro Musica from South Africa. In 1994 the choir performed a fully staged production of the opera Carmen. The repertoire is vast and includes melodies from Beethoven to the Beatles along with many classical favourites.

The choir is regularly invited to sing across the West Midlands and has performed in the Symphony Hall, Birmingham, for the Remembrance Day Service along with the RAF and at Birmingham Town Hall with Swansea Male voice Choir. It has entered the Sainsburys Choir of the Year competition on several occasions and has also recently attended the National Association of Choirs Annual Conference Concert in Victoria Hall, Stoke-On-Trent.

Along with its events, since it has been formed, Viva always encouraged and has helped in raising a great deal of money for various local charities and churches including Mary Stevens Hospice since it has been formed. Our own President and well known Black Country comedian Tommy Mundon has also compéred many of our events and is always welcomed by all.
